Ready for the 1/2 marathon in Lewisville TX this weekend!!

HI all, just checking in.
I've been running a bit, nearly all in shoes. Some on trails (granite gravel/woods), some on pavement, mostly with my lunas. My lunas fell apart between the footbed and the sole, so I keep tapign them with duct tape. It works for about 1-2 runs. Oh well.
It's a pretty look.
I even ran in closed toe shoes twice this week (old merrells that don't fit well) because the trail would have been too wet/rough to keep the tape on.
Maybe it's time to get new sandals. I loved my lunas until they fell apart.
Anyhow, I've been doing between 15-25 miles per week (maybe? I don't measure mileage anymore), on beautiful fall mornings when I have the time before work. The weather has been just wonderfully cool to warm, the fall colors have been amazing. Every now and again, I substitute a run for a hike with the kids. My 12 yr old daughter still acts like I'm trying to murder her if I try to get her to run even a short distance, so hiking is the compromise.

Hope everyone is getting outside!

Hi there! Could to see you again. :)

I recently purchased a back-up pair of Luna's because they are so useful to me as footwear when required by establishments, and for rough surfaces!

Monday's long run of 12 miles, usual pond loop route, was unusually hard on my soles, so

Tuesday, it was the regular early morning spin bike before granddaughter arrived for the day, but no swim as the pool heater needed repair, then

Wednesday I ran 6.1 miles in Luna's, and was able to swim 20 minutes later that day.

Thursday noon I enjoyed an outside bike ride with hubby on bike paths for a bit over an hour at comfortable speeds, although he says I was going faster than usual. The weather was gorgeous, but for some reason we had the paths mostly to ourselves. Within 15 minutes of ending that, I ran 2.1 miles in my Luna's on hills.

Now it is Friday, and I am getting ready to go test my soles again this morning.

Not too much for me yet this week. 5 miles on Sunday, 12 on Monday and 5 Tuesday morning - this was followed by 24 hours straight at work so much of Wednesday was spent trying to sleep. Thursday was a day travelling to our new house in WA where I've got a lot to do in 6 days so running will be on the back burner for a while.

OK
Completed the (That Dam 1/2 Marathon) in Lewisville TX. this morning starting at 8:00am.
It was Cool and breezy, 55 Deg. f. 47% rh.
Most Excellent run I saw lots of water fowl.
The view was spectacular up on the Dam.
I heard one rooster crow (I have not heard that for a while).
The terrain was almost all asphalt (some was very course) with training my feet feel pretty good!
Cool weather with the excitement of the race atmosphere seemed to let me have some great times (and a great time).
Signing off to sign up for The Red and Blue run in Irving TX in November. Tis the season!!

Well I haven't been on here in a couple weeks. Even before my last race my running started to taper off, especially with cold temps on the horizon and renovations still underway. I still need to finish insulation - about half of my roof is uninsulated at the moment, only thin steel sheetmetal separates the interior room and outside cold... I'd been only doing 1 run a week for a few weeks. :( This week started to get back at it, with runs Thursday, Friday, and today (Sunday) of 3.2, 5, and 4.5 miles.

Today was the Columbus Marathon, which I have run the last two years. This year in no shape for a marathon. Also I was on the schedule for nightshifts this weekend and my building is only about a block away from the start/finish and a highrise so I could see em all setting up. I left at 5:30 and already lots of people where making their way in downtown. Maybe next year. Best I could do today was a 4.5 mile jog and I wore my shirt in tonight from the event from last year. It was a good year to skip it though... the thermometer at my house was about 28ºF at race start. I'm not sure if I could have even done that since I am not used to the cold yet! I've barely run below 50º this fall so far.

While I am sad that summer's warmth is leaving, I do love the fall scenery!! Here is a cell phone pic from my run this week on the Heart of Ohio Trail.

Very nice! Is the next one a half marathon, too?

I finished up the week with 32.5 miles, and topped it off winning the "Early Fall Pickleball (Doubles) Tournament," as it was dubbed by our friends who invited a group of us over to play. I played barefoot. The host has been trying out barefoot and minimalist running variations for a couple of years, and was encouraged to go barefoot "if Laura was going to." Another lady who doesn't ever go barefoot that I am aware of, also decided to take off her shoes, as did the fellow of the couples team about half way into the game we were "beating" them in. Very fun group, but now we ARE under a lot of pressure to keep the title.
