Toes on Roads Competition

Victory Ceremony for the August ToRC

Attendance increased with respect to July to 35 members.
We logged a total distance of 4209 km. 3272 km (78%) were run skin-to-ground. This is a new record by barefoot distance.
We have got a new individual winner this month!!! BroadArrow from Chambana, Illinois, USA, ran 482 km – all barefoot.
The US team – although small with only 4 members – won the barefoot category with 999 km run. France was the strongest team by participant number (15) as well as by total distance (1394 km).
Hope to see you all again in September.

All the best,
Martin (gueng)

Victory Ceremony for the September ToRC

Attendance was on the low side with only 28 members.

We logged a total distance of 3652 km. 2841 km (78%) were run skin-to-ground.
DNEChris from New York took over the lead again with 346 km, completely skin-to-ground.

France was the strongest team by total (1463 km) and barefoot (1009 km) distance, as well as by number of members (12).

Half-Year Analysis for Spring/Summer 2015

As promised, I did a half-year analysis by adding up all the monthly mileages for each individual member in the period from March until August. This is to reward those people who keep the faith with ToRC for a prolonged period.

Please view the results here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...Z-Rse5ozj2Cj45IjTu4/edit?pli=1#gid=1325854513

25.484 km were run in total by 72 people, 17.425 km skin-to-ground (68%).

Not surprisingly, DNEChris from New York (USA) is - by far - leading in both categories. He accumulated an impressive total distance of 2.393 km, 1.940 km of which he ran skin-to-ground.

Ranks 2 and 3 are occupied by two German guys:
gueng (myself) from Marburg (1.495 km / 1.495 km) and
Christian Lemburg from Aachen (1.421 km / 1.356 km).

Finally, the ranking of nations reads „France - Germany - USA“ in both distance categories as well as by number of members.

All the best,
Martin (gueng)

I'll settle for being in the top 100 barefoot runners :)

Great work, gueng, but I can't open the file. Google keeps insisting that it doesn't exist :(

Hi Lambda,

I was unable to reproduce the problem with the file, as I was able to open it on different computers (at home and at work) without being logged into my google account.
Does anybody else have the problem?

All the best,
Martin

Victory Ceremony for the October ToRC

With 36 participants we had quite a good attendance in October.

We logged a total distance of 4.230 km, record-breaking 3.663 km (87%) of which were run skin-to-ground.

Christian Lemburg from Aachen, Germany, was impressively strong with 339 km, completely run skin-to-ground.
He was followed closely by DNEChris (Kincraig; 329 km total; 314 km barefoot) as well as by Burkhard (Hamburg; 288 km completely barefoot).

France was the strongest team by total distance (1.698 km) and by number of members (16).
For the first time, the much smaller German team (8 members) became the winner by barefoot distance (1.287 km) - but this was a narrow shave as France contributed only 16 km less!

It is thrilling to see what happens in November when temperatures in the most ToRC-active countries usually drop significantly :).

All the best,
Martin (gueng)

Victory Ceremony for the November ToRC

With 37 participants, attendance remained on a good level in November.
Total distance decreased slightly to 3.983 km. 76% (3.037 km) were still run skin-to-ground, which is a decent value for late-autumn.

Our individual winner in both categories is DNEChris who logged 368 km, 324 km (88%) of which he ran skin-to-ground.

France participated with the largest team (15 members) and managed to increase its total (1.821 km) as well as barefoot (1.357 km) distances, consequently winning both categories.
The Belgian team keeps on growing continously since summer and has now reached 10 participants – great work, petit-pied!

Hope to see you all again in December,
Martin (gueng)

Really hard this month... DNE Chris let me dream of an easy victory during three weeks:smuggrin: . But ultimately, he has caught up to the end:arghh:
how stress, to see Belgium catch up with his teammates.:nailbiting: But damn , what an amazing racer:woot:
I'm :jaw drop:

Congratulation !!

See you next year, everyone!;)

I think the secret is not to race! Slow and steady wins the day!

Victory Ceremony for the December ToRC

We finished the year 2015 with a fine December result.
Relatively mild weather in western and central Europe facilitated barefoot running such that we still had 30 participants, running 2.413 km (69%) of the total 3.501 km skin-to-ground.

No relevant change regarding our individual top scorer: DNEChris / USA was again unbeatable in the total (380 km) as well as in the barefoot category (292 km). He was closely followed by Christian Lemburg / Germany with respect to barefoot distance (264 km) and by Loic Hamelin / France with respect to total distance (367 km).

The French team was again the largest one (13 members) and accumulated the longest total (1.517 km) and barefoot (861 km) distances. However, the gap between France and Germany (773 km bf) in the barefoot category became significantly smaller.

I wish you happy running in January,
Martin (gueng)

Victory Ceremony for the January ToRC

33 participants ran a total of 3.321 km, and 2.084 km (63%) skin-to-ground.

We've got two new individual winners!
Sly / Portugal ran the farthest barefoot (194 km), while
Christian Barefooteur / France accumulated the longest total distance (302 km). Congratulations!

With the largest team of 13 members, it was easy for the French to win by total distance (1.320 km) and a bit less easy to win by barfoot distance (774 km) :)

Now, let's see what February brings.

All the best,
Martin (gueng)
