Hello All!

I'm a long time lurker, just now introducing myself. After seeing an article (I think) in the Southwest Airlines magazine and getting the Born to Run book, I started running BF. Now I've been running barefoot for over five years, part streets, part sidewalks and part trails. Prior to BF, I had been struggling to get back into running for several years using NB shoes with arch support insoles that made my knees and back ache. Now, no more pain, and I'm having fun running again.

Are there any other BF runners in the ABQ area, especially on the east side? I'm told there's one guy who runs trails BF on Sandia Crest, but I haven't managed to cross paths with him yet.

I've always thought it was such fun to say the name Albuquerque. Was actually there for a couple of days YEARS ago when my husband had an interview with a company there. I remember it bring dry and rocky!

I have been running barefoot about as long as you, but I haven't been nearly as quiet ...glad to have you join the discussion.

Hello HSB! Bugs Bunny liked to say the name Albuquerque, too, when he realized he should have turned left there. The city is named after the Duke of Alburquerque in Spain. Notice the extra "r" in Alburquerque got dropped from the name by accident when the name was painted on the train depot a long, long time ago.

Dry and rocky and sandy describes Albuquerque most of the year. However, during the July-August "monsoon", i.e., thunderstorms, the desert greens up and blooms; it has its charms. We also have lots of green mountains a short drive away in all directions. The Rio Grande runs through town with lots of barefootable trails in the bosque (woods) by the river.

Where in Idaho are you? I've run a couple times with the Seaport Striders in Clarkston-Lewiston, a good group of folks.

Very interesting trivia!
I am further south, near Boise, but my parents lived up near Lewiston for a while, so I know it is a nice area.
