We were at Magic Kingdom recently in the evening. It's been raining a lot lately in Orlando. I wore my 2mm Vibram DIY sandals, but I was getting tired of them. Even awesome sandals are cumbersome in the rain. So I kicked them off, and carried them. With all the rain, I noticed I wasn't the only shoeless person in the park!

I later put them on, since we were about to get on a ride. A college-age Disney staff member, said that I needed to keep my shoes on for safety. I say sure, I'm putting them now, right before the ride. Disney guy clarifies that he means at all times, because "people drop stuff" and children "vomit".

For those who haven't been, Disney parks are fairly pristine. Like many public places, the concessions don't sell anything that comes in glass. Vomit gets cleaned up quickly, especially on the tea cup ride. There's always people tidying up. So Disney is really safe. Quite safe enough for people to say, bring their babies, toddlers, and have children running all over the place.

Now, I had been walking around for a good 20 minutes barefoot already, past several staff members. Although, it was pretty dark, and I'm guess they didn't see me, or didn't want to stop a guy walking briskly in the rain for a "minor offence".

Anyhow, I kept my shoes on for the rest of the time. I didn't want to get anyone ruffled. Perhaps, they have a dress code for guests, too.

Hmmm, okay! Dress code!

Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times.

And what their rules say is that bare feet are not family-oriented:

Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times. The parks are a casual, family-oriented environment.

And for the entire "world" resort park (link on that page), they also say that "Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times." I'm pretty sure that the hotels are part of the resort park. So make sure you wear shoes to bed.

If I am stopped and too tired to fight it, I would put them back on, then as soon as they turned their back, I'd take them off again.

Right, it would be difficult to hunt me down.
