First off, i have been running in huaraches for almost 3 years now and it was until about 3 months ago i started doing things barefoot. Now i go barefoot in the house, outside the house, and when i do runs.
- As of the moment i just use a scrubber to clean my feet under lukewarm water when showering and before i go to bed i put ointment on the bottom of my feet and i use lotion sometimes.
- I ran in a park that has smooth concrete, i was able to run 7 miles yesterday w/o any skin damage.

Question: Is my the way i remedy my feet good or are there better alternatives? Also, would the feet be better off without foot care products because it will learn to become thick and strong by itself?

The alternative is no care at all (except of trimming toenails and washing them occasionally). Feet can take care of themselves. Has been working for me for years. :)

Hey Henry, it sounds like you're having fun. Where are you running?

My thought about foot care is that you can do whatever pleases you, and in my experience the very best foot care is to have someone else attend to it for you. Lotion won't set you back much, as it wears away and its effects dissipate after a little while, especially if you don't do it every day.

The worst problem I have with my foot care is when we go into "heel crack" season, which has gotten several threads attention over the years.

i run on the streets around my neighborhood, typical sidewalks of gray / white color, i live in CA and i run at around 7;00 pm and onward when the sidewalks cooldown and the sun starts to set.

Yes, I love running in the evenings as dusk settles and the world is going quiet.

...then again, I love running in the mornings, too.

I can't say that I've ever put anything on my feet other than washing them in the shower with soap, sometimes with a plastic scruffy pad. Never have had my feet dry out or crack like my finger tips sometimes do. Though perhaps the care products are fine to use as well, not really sure since I've never tried.
