Mileage reporting 51st week of 2014

I did my first marathon totally barefoot (Dallas Marathon).
Started at 8:05 am. 63 deg. f. 80-100% rh, it rained a couple of times.
This race goes through some very scenic areas of Dallas.
There were a lot of spectators (compared to some other runs I have done ).
About mile 1.5 I came upon barefoot Rick. He said it was is 61st barefoot marathon (this gave me added hope to go all the way bare)
I meet one other woman running barefoot (she was doing her first 1/2 marathon)

Race comments
How long does it take you to get your feet clean (by 2 different folks)(reply I never get them clean)
Look he's not wearing any shoes.
How long have you been training barefoot?
Don't your feet hurt? (I have heard this a lot in races and my reply is sometimes, do your feet hurt?)(I am curious, most answer yes even with shoes)
Many more encouraging comment like great job and that is awesome (keeps me trucking)

I really enjoyed the run.
My feet did good!
My legs did good!
Today my legs are very sore (mainly thighs almost like I did heavy squats) I have never really experienced this before, it caught me off guard.

I may take a little time off to recoup. (If my feet will let me)

Congrats Runlite!

Well my weekend wasn't so great, working dayshift, sitting on my butt most of the time. I was sleep deprived and stressed out a little due to management pulling a big schedule change on us for 2016. Sunday night I was just beat when I got home. Tired and starting to get a headache. Also had to unload a pallet(2,000 lbs) of Eco Bricks out of my truck. Was so tired I slept for almost 12 hrs, which will help since I'm working nightshift tonight without a day off to adjust. When I got up my calves and right achilles were tighter than usual so wasnt sure if I was going to run today. But it was a beautiful day, warmest in a while in the 40's. After swinging an axe for 30 minutes and various other things I felt a little looser and went for a jog. Just took it easy and did 6.7 miles.

I'm a bit unsure about what to do about the achilles problems I've had. Unsure if not running would allow it to heal better, but it usually doesn't bother when I run, and often feels a little better when I run. I really want to have a good year next year. Just re-submitting all my vacation requests and now there is an ultra I am contemplating in May (50k). May is a long way out, but with the achilles pains even though it feels ok to run I am severely limiting my runs.

Going to be doing stairs at work this week too, so hopefully this will be a good week for me. Got a good start so far tonight.

Fantastic Runlite :D

I did 25 min treadmill running post lifting Sunday and Monday, but my ankles started to bother me.
I did the crosstrainer today to at least get the cardio.

I usually do long daily walks too, but have decreased that to half the distance now.

Congrats Runlite. Great that you got to meet the Rick that actually runs barefoot.:)

Monday - 18 shod miles. Doing some trail scouting on an Ultra course. Horseshoe Bend in Arizona (Colorado river).

Tuesday - 18 shod miles. More work on the Ultra course. Got to see some beautiful slot canyons including the well known Antelope Canyon. Kept thinking that this course may be barefoot friendly until I would spot the sticker tentacles of goat head plants crossing the trail. Also a little too cold for sandals. These two runs were exactly what I needed to get my mojo back. Had a little post race depression and some tendinitis that I have been rehabbing. I know, silly when so many other things in the world going on, but it happens.

I am in Fort Worth on business. Staying near the convention center so I went on a barefoot run last night. Went around the center and the water gardens three times for a total of 3.2 miles. Felt pretty good so I picked up my pace a bit for the 2nd and 3rd miles. Some of the pavement was really rough and pebbly around the water gardens. Felt a little stiff today but I did pretty well. After a hearty meal with clients, I was tempted to go on another night run after the rain subsided but it's gotten too late. Maybe tomorrow morning I will try again.

Welcome to Texas
Hope you enjoy your stay
Happy barefoot'n

Thanks!!

Went out this morning for a 3.85 mile run, then walked 0.5 to cool down and get some morning Starbucks. Ran through some small puddles and wet grass left over from last night's rain and this morning's fog. Going to finish some business this morning and head to Dallas to visit my cousin. Then home to Oakland CA tonight. So far, it's been a good trip; especially since I have been able to slip in some bf running!! Nice streets, Fort Worth! The Fort Worth Water Gardens are quite beautiful.

Celebrating a milestone today. Literally.

Today I ran 1 mile for the very first time ever. Proper running, not walk/running. On the treadmill in Sockwa. 10:50 mins. Not fast I know, but still a mile! :)

(Those that know my back story will know how much this means to me)
.

Wednesday, did 12km/7.5mi relatively slowly, trying to understand why I am getting these adductor strains. The good thing is the pain is not increasing.
Today I went to my local park to do small tempo runs (2.6km loop). A total of 13.5km/8.4mi, half of that at a reasonable pace (about 5'20"/km). I tried to be careful on my landing, which I suspect might not have been very smooth

I expect to finish the year with about 1900km/1180mi, or 200km more than last year

Well after not running since Monday, finally got some miles in today. Not very many, just a hair under 4mi. Was 28F with no wind. Road surface temp about 30.5F. But there was a heavy dusting of snow, and the spots where there wasn't was because it had melted and was actually slightly damp.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights I did stairs though a few less trips than normal. Averaged around 60 floors each night.

7 miles, mid 9s average pace, 45f. First bit of road running i'd done in a while, nice for a change but already looking to the trails for a pre Christmas dinner calorie burn, followed soon after, i suspect, by a much longer post Christmas dinner calorie burn ;) Either way no 'black forrest gateaux' will be safe within a ten mile radius of me over the holidays :hungry:

A very gentle 10.5 miles, in Samsons, at about 9:20 pace. AHR was 119 and, even though way overdressed for just on freezing, not a drop of sweat was generated. A totally refreshing run
It is impressive that you can keep your AHR so low. At that pace, mine is about 135.

A very slow 16km/9.9mi today, summer is definitely here, with an average temperature of 27C/81F during my run.

Usually I manage to run without water for this duration, but today, I had to stop twice for water. Feet are fine, just a small niggle on my left ankle.

Dog sitting this week so I combined a 4.4 mile dog walk with walk/jog around the lake in the early evening on Saturday. I am not sure who kept up with whom. It was dark by the time we were done. While most of the route was paved, we went through some grassy areas and dog and I finished with pretty muddy feet. It took more to wash the soil out of his paws and belly fur than to clean my feet. Duh.

Wow, I did about 15 miles this week running bare foot. That's a crazy amount of running for me, regardless of what I was wearing! My calves, soles of my forefeet, and achilles tendons are a bit sore but I am not hobbling around (much) like I was doing after short runs in Spain just two months ago. I hope I can keep this up.
