Well in my recent bout of gear whorism I went out and bought these.

Hopefully this can be my go to wet muddy trail running shoe. I just tossed my old pair of LP 1.5's the other day, pretty impressed they lasted as long as they did.

They arrive soon, I'll post my thoughts after I get some kilometers on them.

The Lone Peak 1.5s have been my go-to trail running shoe for the past 10 months or so. I tried the 2.0 at a running store in Denver a couple of months ago (just a few minutes on a treadmill). I think they'll be good, but I haven't bought them yet. I mainly wanted to try them to make sure Altra didn't screw them up with the new version. That didn't seem to be the case at all, I'm happy to report. I'm hoping to pick up a pair soon (and hopefully another pair of the 1.5s if they go on sale at a good discount!).

Did you order their gaiter, too?

No I didn't, I've never found gaiters to be necessary and have never used them?

Yeah I am the same I was very happy with the 1.5's my one minor issue with them was I wish they were just a tad wider. They also don't drain water that well but it wasn't a big issue for me.
The 2.0's seem a little bit more cushiony? Not sure if that will make much of a difference.

Well they made it quicker than expected. First impression is these are not a minimalist shoe at all and rival the Hokas for thickness. The fit is true I am the same size as usual 11.5. Toe box seems a bit wider than the 1.5 but also fits a little better. They are lighter than I expected and the yellow isn't too bad of a color. The fit has a weird bump for lack of a better description that almost makes it feel like you can rock back and forth from the heel to forefoot. I seem to remember this when I first started wearing the 1.5. You can barely feel anything and the ride is more cushy too.

A quick update, I have 2 races of about 100k total run in the shoes and a handful of other runs.

Goods:
Grip is great, specifically in mud and wet leaves. Not so good grip on wet asphalt and cobblestone, but that's expected for trail shoes
You really can't feel much which makes running on rocky terrain easy. They are mostly comfortable other than a tongue issue. Still have a rocking effect you feel when walking but its inconsequential.
Water resistant... kind of. It took some deep puddles to get my feet really wet and kept me dry as long as I wasn't barreling through the puddles. They drained as expected.
No blisters yet.
The new laces are excellent and hold perfectly without double knotting.

Bads:
The left tongue irritates my foot after 13 miles or so. I have tried loosening the laces and that helped on the right foot. On the left foot the only thing I could do to help was loosen it and feed the tongue out before the last lace so it doesn't slide down my foot on the left side. It seemed to work for the last 20k of my recent race.
Wish the laces were a couple of inches longer.

Unfortunately the tongue issue may be a deal breaker as it causes significant irritation on the top of my foot. I think I found an adequate fix, but not sure I could recommend them at this point. I am still tinkering with tying them. It seems best to adjust the laces by the forefoot looser, the midfoot tighter and the upper foot looser.

Anyway I am hoping to pick up a pair of the new superiors that are coming out this week. They seem like a good mix between the LP and older superiors and lighter too.
