When we think of our favorite barefoot athletes, I know the "classics" all come to mind, but Stan Brock is my favorite.
I grew up watching Wild Kingdom on Sunday evenings and loved Marlin & Jim, but I was awestruck by Stan Brock. The burly barefoot Englishman who grew up in South America and ran, lassoed & captured animals barefoot (and many time barefoot horseback riding). I have a stack of DVDs and my kids now watch them with me for fun & laughs.
I am sure he was a gimmick by American TV producers (British accented English, barefoot burly guy, etc.) and went on to do a very cheesy TV series, but he was a legitimate barefoot runner in all sorts of conditions and is to this day on many occasions.
Stan Brock is my favorite barefoot runner/athlete.
