Boy does it feel good to be back in action! Phil Maffetone would be proud. Based on my aerobic pace, my 5k race pace was exactly what his chart predicted. I ran negative splits and had a great final kick. Running this way, I felt good enough to go for a jog within an hour of finishing! Now on to my next adventure!!!!!!!!

Here's me smoking my final shod victim just at the finish

I fixed the privacy setting. I finished 3 minutes slower than my old race times. I had been running for at least a year leading up to when I could run that fast, and I've only been seriously training now for the past 3 months (I only ran 3 speed workouts prior to this race, though, the rest being longer a slow). With that being said, I'd feel obliterated and very sore for a couple of days after a race back then. This morning I felt pretty stiff, but started to feel better within minutes of getting up. Now I just feel fatigued. Almost no soreness, though. It took me a while to fall asleep last night and I woke up earlier than expected. I always get insomnia after a hard or long run. I hope to go for a walk later today and start running again tomorrow, something light and easy. All and all, I like doing things this way better. I feel like I got to that perfect point of effort w/o pushing to the point of injury. I think this will lead to better improvements, especially for the long haul. I saw some people (shod) limping around post race. Made me shake my head.
