Mileage reporting 36th week of 2014

Can I ask if anyone can join this thread?

Sure thing and barefoot hula hoop mileage counts. Welcome.

Wednesday - 14 shod miles. Trail hike/run with 3000 vert. feet up in 7 and 3000 vert. feet down in 7. Hindsight, I could have worn sandals, the trail wasn't too rough and the pace was slow.

Thursday - 5 barefoot miles in stickers, weeds, and gravel. Soles needed some conditioning.

Nice! but shouldn't you be harvesting by now?:)

Ok were was I, oh yea.
Monday 17.5 miles
Wednesday 6 miles at noon and seven miles in the evening.
Thursday whimpy strength training.
On yesterday's noon miles I was planning on doing a tempo run but it turned out to be a whimpy run too.
The route I took was not a good one lots of construction going on and needless to say there was lots of sharp little pointy rocks/gravel and by golly the squirrels have been super bussy cracking acorns.:( but I survived:barefoot:

Very nice photo!
I'm not doing so well in gravel, myself. How much does it affect your pace, and did you get any bruises?

Not directed at me, but I ran in gravel last week, and it added at least 3 minutes per mile I think, although I wasn't wearing a gadget. I didn't get any bruises, in fact, I found it therapeutic, but I only ran three miles.

Wednesday ran 11.3km/7mi and today did 11km/6.8mi, Spring has still not sprung, we had some severe rain over the past few days, with very cold weather. I am hoping it will turn around.

Spring is also time for the small spiky things (probably some plant seeds) covering our grass areas, making it more difficult to run on grass. It last for about 2 months, then it is back to normal

I have found something really good to care for my feet. Without pushing for any ads, Nivea In shower skin conditioner has helped dramatically reduce my skin cracks and keep my feet nice and 'presentable'

I took the family to Melbourne for a night, so I got up early and went running around the city, along the Yarra River, through some parks and around past the old office building where I used to work. I didn't see any of my old workmates - I thought it would have been funny if I ran into somebody who started off staring at the crazy barefoot weirdo, only to realise it was a bloke they worked with ten years ago. :)

The vibe was a little bit city-like, many people pointedly ignored me, but I managed to get a hello out of a few. One lady was quite funny, as I ran past she pointed at my feet and almost tut-tutted like a disapproving parent. :)

My feet are feeling a little scuffed after what was probably my longest run on paved paths for a while, but it was a good run.

Hijack! I used to get back home and be like "oh man, I could SO use a foot massage right now". But now it seems walking and running barefoot sort of eliminated that feeling for me, especially since have to go through gravel before every run. Anybody else feel this way?

0.75km yesterday again. What I like about it is not wearing any gadget. No smartphone, nothing. I know the distance and don't really need to know the pace. I won't run tonight as I have other plans but I definitely will run Saturday.

Ha, it's hard to hijack the mileage thread, it's become sort of a general fitness/activity thread albeit centered on running.

And yes, I find barefooting and rough surfaces to be therapeutic too, although sometimes, especially with longer runs, I need a good massage with my wooden foot roller. When I started running in the morning last summer, I came to embrace the little stones and debris that are hard to see in the dim light. After a few weeks, the pain diminished quite a bit, and the after-effect became kind of soothing and relaxing. Sort of a blunt acupuncture? This year I barely notice squirrel shrapnel, stones, or other debris unless it sticks to my feet. Still, rougher surfaces definitely slow me down.

Gadgetless running is wonderful. I'm not ideological about it, and have enjoyed running with a Garmin in the past, but I've been running raw for about nine months now and I'm really enjoying it. I would do the same thing with weight-lifting too if it were possible to somehow lift without knowing the pounds/kilos of the plates.

Just beat my 5K PR from March by 16 seconds! 33:16. I'm back! 16/50K so far for the September Toes on Roads

4+ miles this morning. YOW, when does the winter challenge start? Ran at 5C this morning, this is our only window of opportunity to post decent winter challenge miles as by November the temps will be getting to low and snowy to build up miles out here on the flatlands, also known as Winterpeg. :coldfeet:
I'll trade your 5C for our current 32C with very high humidity to give you a chance for a little more distance :p
It feels like summer just got here and I'm not liking it at all :wacky:
