Running form on pavement - video

Hello Paraganek, I'm no expert in running technique but it seems to me that when you are at normal speed you bounce up and down about 5cm, and when you are sprinting that bounce disappears, personally I prefer the NO bouncing but everyone is different, I wonder what will happen if you put a collar in your neck and then go out for a run, does the collar bounces a lot at normal speed?

What software did you use for the video?

I think you are right about the bounce.
As for the editing, I did it in Adobe Premiere.

I'm wondering if your left glute is inhibited. There's a slight difference in the extnesion of your legs. I noticed it by how much your left hand moves vs your right hand.

Hopefully i will learn to take care of that and help you. The hand is only a sign of a deeper problem. Figure out the deep problem should take care of the hand.

Unfortunetly it will take more than squats to turn on your glutes. You'll just likely recruit your back like when you run. Lifting with muscle imbalances will only increase those imbalances.

dan,

i see you fishing all over fb for answers. there were some good ones. i'm going to cali on my break but will only go for a week. i can meet up with you and see if i can't help out.

now that i'm on a computer and not my limited ipad i can say easier what's sticking out to me. i see your left glutes giving out and your back taking over to extend your leg. your left arm swings more to compensate. now which glute is giving out and is it because of your psoas or elsewhere? that takes work to figure out. i can't promise a fix but i'm willing to take a shot. that is if you can take a long lunch.

There was one really good observation from one guy:
"I'm not sure it is a crossover gait. Your "cross-over" looks like it's happening primarily below the knee. The Gait Guys show it as a hip level dropping issue. Your upper body is not doing any sway. Tough to tell from video, but a guess is that you might be excessively externally rotating your hip on push off. This would cause your landing foot to come across the midline."

Look like I definitely have a couple of things to work on. Although I have been injury free for the last two years, efficiency and speed is something I might work on improving.

As for my right foot "overpronating" I am not concerned much about that.
I believe the term "ovepronation" is more-less a myth.

Don't worry too much. It may not lead to injury but it could be slowing you down. I'm no where near an expert. Watch it again and pay close attention to your left leg. When it hits the ground it's fine. Once you start extending it it locks up and your back takes over. If that's all it is it shouldn't take too much to get the correct muscles firing. If it's only in the hips.the foot is another matter.

Since the last video was not very good in terms of my camera setup (static spot, long zoom) I have decided to make a new one.
Moving camera this time, different angles, shows the stride much more clearly. Different music track (especially for Bare Lee) ;)
Enjoy !

Mike does have a point. Your left foot strike is different then your right, can't really see why, maybe one of our form experts can answer that question. but your run does seem to flow nice though.
Good observation.
