September Toes on Roads Competition - NEW RULES!

OK. Here they are ... the new rules for next month's competition:

1. The new spreadsheet will be uploaded on 31st August 2014.

2. All chapter members should continue to log their mileage (in their local units - km or miles) as they did for the current competition.

3. Each chapter member that runs 25 kilometres during September will receive 1 point.

4. Each chapter member that runs 50 kilometres during September will receive an additional 2 points.

5. No chapter member can earn more than 3 points. Any mileage recorded above 50 kilometres will NOT earn additional points.

6. The winning chapter at the end of September will be the chapter that HAS EARNED THE MOST POINTS!

Yep, you've correctly worked out that to win this competition, you are going to need lots of your fellow chapter members out running and logging their miles, so you better get recruiting now! :)

Good Luck!

Paul

No mate, just levelling the playing field and trying to pull in more players :)

Not sure we'll be able to do real-time rankings this time, unless I can work out the formulae to do this. You might have to wait until the end of the month to find out the winning chapter ;)

I thought the way things went this month was very successful!
There is a great cross section of distances and good competition towards the top of the leader board.
These sort of results are no different to the type of results you will see at any international sporting event.

Any way I enjoyed this month, added a few extra miles here and there to my usual routine to step up and represent which was a nice little motivation to get my ass in gear.

Remember distance is relative to fitness, if you can just manage 1 mile or over 100 miles it still take the same kind of effort, so every mile is important!
I don't think clipping runners wings will change anything or put bums on seats.

Maybe one month isn't really giving things time to blossom, these community events can take quite some time to flourish and get established, things will ebb and flow as the community ebbs and flows. You'll get good months and bad months.

Also remember the seasons will dictate how well a group is doing, things will change greatly as winter moves through the hemispheres.
.
Loads of variables that can only pan out with time, so don't be too hasty to change things.

Just my two cents.

Hi Skedaddle - don't worry. I am just trying out different formats. You are right. It has been great to see so many people joining in the August competition and to see the friendly banter between chapters. I am happy too that it has motivated you (and presumably others) to do a few extra miles. It has me too :)

I want to try this next format to see if we can maybe get more members that run a lot less than others to join in. If it doesn't work, we will revert to the original format (or maybe another format if anyone has any better ideas?)

I think I may have thought of a way to do a live tally Sid, if I can get the formula right
