Hello everybody. I've been lurking here for a few months. Wonderful forum!

I started solely running BF in may, shortly after having bought another set of shoes (which gave me heel pain). I'm a recreational runner but have slowly upped the BF mileage (kilometerage, actually!) and can do 10km with proper form (welll, there's always room for improvement, of course). I run on gravel paths and asphalt.

I've only been running for 2 years and suspect that transitioning is going relatively smoothly for me as I haven't become set in my running ways (I was a couch potato before, heavy smoker too - but quit 3 years ago).

BF is so incredibly much fun! The sensation, stimuli, disbelieving passers-by and not least being mindful.

I'm entering my first races in september. First a 10km, and later a half marathon. My goals are having a good time and finish. Nevermind the time.

Welcome. Which part of the country to you live? I have visited Bergen and various places (including Alesund) up to the North Cape. The view from the top of the mountain in Bergen was fantastic - what a hike to the top though! I can only claim to running it - from the top to the bottom....Beautiful country and countryside. and great people we met everywhere.

Your running plan sounds solid. Take your time and listen to you body - an old cliché I know - but it works. Have fun.

Again, thanks a lot for the welcome - and the likes. I haven't been this warmly recieved on any forum. I really appreciate it! I'll pop in the forum soonish with questions about winter barefooting (though there are a cpl of good threads already) and left/right differences. I also pledge to share my knowledge as soon as I feel I have some ☺

I think that has something to do with our being barefoot. We are a happier bunch because we take our pinching shoes off! :barefoot:

I guess you're right, TJ. I'll remember to pay it forward.

I'm slowly building up, and have been running 6-7km each of the last 3 days. 1 speed run and 2 slower trips. No pains except for a small sore spot on the outermost part of my right foot's ball. On gravel my feet told me to ease of today, so I did most of the run on asphalt. Think I'll take a day of tomorrow.

Good Q, Jørgen. I haven't tested yet but believe lengthy runs are entirely possible down to 0 degrees centigrade, provided conditions are dry, one builds gradually and dress a bit warmer on the legs than a shod runner would. Above all, I'll listen to my body, esp regarding numbness. Remains to see if im right, though.

Welcome, Jorgen!
