Mileage reporting 33rd week of 2014

A fantastic 13km/8.1mi this morning. I went to Centennial Park for 2 laps of muddy, wet trail run.

I so enjoy running in wet clay, you can feel the toes digging into it, trying to get a grip....

Obviously it wasn't my fastest run, but by far one of the most enjoyable. Temperatures around 15C/59F, and rain all the time

New personal distance record today.

Am pretty happy bout it, but am also pretty beat up.

Feet are killing me, the soles are fine, maybe a tiny bit sensitive, but the bones feel abused....my calves no longer get tight and sore, but I think there is still work to do with regard to building up the bone density in my feet.

This was my hardest run ever, mostly cause I felt like crap from the beginning...the first four miles I was achy, painy, grumpy, and had no energy, and I had stomach cramps...decided to soldier on and see what would happen...by mile 6 or so I was feeling fine, and kept building in strength till I got to about mile 17...the last two miles were mind over matter, with a lot of talking to myself to keep running.

12 miles were skin to ground, the remainder was with my Unshoes Sandals.

3 miles on trail the rest of various pavements.

I thought I was hydrating well, but I guess not, cause I weighed a crazy 9 pounds less than when I left.

Was above 80 degrees Fahrenheit for much of the run though.

That was brutal, but glad I got my very first 20 miler in!

One side note, on runs over 10K, I usually don't remember much of the run, cause the mind kinda disconnects from the body sorta, but I remember every step of this run, cause the whole thing was a struggle....but I love it, I may be a masochist.

I have switched to running according to "however damn long I feel like it" and I'm not tracking mileage anymore and won't be until winter. I run daily except for those four unlovely days a month. Today I ran in flip-flops cuz I can.

Pretty sore today, but need to find a way to get in about 6 miles lol

I can't seem to get past this 40 mile week barrier...is mostly a time constraints issue, but I need to get across that number.

I have a pretty bad rock bruise on my left heel, so we will see how today goes after some chow and some rehydration :)

Stepped on three sharp rocks in the exact same spot on my left heel yesterday.

13km beach run on Sunday. I took things out at a steady pace, and then on the way back I passed a guy who was about to start running. Not long afterwards I heard him thumping along on the bridge behind me, and when I moved back down to the beach he followed me. I stopped to pick up a shell and he passed me, and for the next few km I sat about 10m or so behind him, not really wanting to pass him and turn it into a race, but not really wanting to back off my pace just to let him get away either. In the end it turned into a bit of a running Mexican stand-off, but he ran out of steam and stopped, and I kept going on my way home. :)

I felt good afterwards, but one day later I have the strangest pain I've had in a year filled with all sorts of crazy niggles. Not sure if it is running related or not. I'll ask the docs for this one.

20mpw. That feels nice.

Three 6-mile runs over the same bridge circuit down by the river, Tu-Th-Sat, plus one day of run-commuting. I didn't really plan on it, but I guess I'm using the same route over and over as a gauge of how much my running fitness is coming back. Each run feels a little better (except last Saturday's, when the humidity and sleep deprivation got to me), but I'm still a ways away from where I was last fall.

If I can get in a few more run-commutes this week, I'll be back up to around 25mpw. Won't be able to hit the targeted 30mpw until I can start getting in some long runs, which might be a month or two off still.

My thoughts are with you Laura. It's nice you can be close to your mother during this time. I hope you can keep up your training. You've worked very hard and diligently towards your marathon goal.

Ended up just doing some stretching and running drills, and about a half mile of running yesterday, just to loosen up a bit...still pretty sore from Saturday....I'm still a bit tender footed this morning, but feel great!

3.15 km barefoot run out of rage on pavement on a local walk/run/cycling road. Comfortable pavement I must say. It almost felt soft.

I still get some post-tib pain while running. It stops after I'm done and then comes back the next morning and after 24 hours it is gone. Enough to not make me want to run the next day after a run. I don't know if I should ask a doc or something or if I should just consider it as my feet adapting to my new running form.

The raging part will be addressed in the thread about going into a store barefoot.
