Books to read

There are a couple of them that are quite useful:

Ken Bob Saxton: Barefoot Running Step by Step
Jason Robillard: The Barefoot Running Book
Michael Sandler:Barefoot Running
Ashish Mukharji: Run Barefoot Run Healthy
Peter Larson and Bill Katovsky: Tread lightly

There are probably others, but these are the ones I bought and can recommend.

Now if you want to buy only one book, it would be difficult to choose ...

I have read Jason's and Michael's, and now reading Ken Bob's. Also liked Chi Running. Can't pick a favorite, but I can mostly relate to Jason's because I am interested in Ultra running and beer.

Nothing wrong with plenty of research and reading, but be cautious of being overwhelmed by too many details. Enjoy just running.

Richard Askwith - Running Free.. If you have ever wondered how would it feel to run without gps, clock or any other gadget, read this and you probably get the inspiration to do so. I'm not even half way through the book, but there haven't been any extraordinary stories of heroic running feats, just subtly told ordinary runs, kinda like you are running your normal run and suddenly realize that nature is beautiful and you are feeling awesome.

Both already mentioned, but just to put in my two cents, awesome books. I haven't read the others. But one important principle that both agree upon is listening to your body. Personally, I rate this even higher in importance than standard recommendations about knees, posture, foot-strike, cadence, etc.

Hi Line! I haven't seen your avatar in too long a time. I hope all is well with you.

I agree with all the books mentioned so far, and have read the majority of them. For some reason I, too, went through a phase wherein I read everything BF related I could get my hands upon.

My favourite of all, though, is Born to Run, which is what got me up off the couch and onto a trail to start it all for me. I've read it at least twice and listened to it on disc at least twice, as well. It's good stuff, even if it's not explicitly about BF running.
