I showed up a half hour before the start of Oshkosh's Runway 5K this morning but around a hundred of us were told to just run without a bib or registration due to staffing shortages. I had my watch on and didn't need an official time for anything so I ended up saving $28 and not having to mess with any pins. I'll spend it on beer instead.

So how is Oshkosh this year?

Every year is different but always fun. For the first time ever they had a military jet demonstration team, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. Had to change the crowd lines but it worked. Two night airshows again this year, and Kenny Loggins on the Ford stage. More comercial every year, with Boeing of all things being a major sponsor! There's room for everything I guess . Sadly there was a fatality , a 21 year old girl was being given a ride by a guy in his seventies in a Breezy and he crashed on landing , killing himself and seriously injuring her.
Saturday I saw several true barefooters! Here's one of them:image.jpg

Seven days of afternoon air shows will do that. I protected my head w/ the biker's skull cap PLUS a Columbia sun hat, I took that outer layer off for the photo. I left the Columbia sun shirt on but opened so a bit of breeze could blow through and out the rear flap. Lying on my back to watch the planes w/ my arthritic neck was the perfect way to tone the abs and tan the tummy at the same time, so I killed three birds with one stone. As long as I leave the shirt on the two tone torso never gets exposed. At least I protected my head, shoulders, and back . Every year I protect a bit more, but still can't resist letting the front and legs get sun time. Here's another shot of the barefoot lady that shows my real look.
