What's this? Tuesday lunch time and we're still not in week 30?

Oh well. I can't say I've been running much either. Today was 5km at lunch time with some work guys. A couple of them are doing a half marathon on Sunday, so this was just a taper run for them. Nice and slow. Sunny, but a little bit chilly at the same time - really a great day for a run.

Did a 10 minute warmup jog, then some short but sweet HIIT.

5 X 20 second max effort sprint with 10 seconds slow jog recovery.

5 minute slow jog cool down.

All skin to ground.

Then did some weight training and a core strengthening workout.

Was a rest day.

Tonight we hit the 1000 Stairs Beach again...gunna try for 15 reps of the 236 stairs.

Ok, gonna try to start posting again.
Been doing stuff, just too busy to post much.

Sunday: walk and gym
Monday: trail run in toe shoes. My soles are still RAW from running/playing walking at beach and surrounding trails on Saturday. Lots of bf time but the skin is gone from my feet.

Tuesday: skin a bit better but still not ready for bf. Weights, not much since the gym was about a million degrees with no air circulating.

Was gone in the mountains most of the end of last week, so will now report Friday's 5 miles on a forest service road along pretty river, and Saturday's 3.1 miles up a trail where horses had been. I wore my Lunas while running both times, but did walk a mile barefoot on the trail afterward. Pix below.

Monday we switched to 60 minutes on the spin bike and 30 minutes of swimming (15+10+5 minute intervals in my constant current flow), so that

my husband could run circles around me today (Tuesday) when I ran my first ever 20 miles. I'm the sun, he's the comet. All barefoot for me, except for 0.2 miles of super sharp chip seal that I couldn't deal with barefoot other than walking very slowly, so I carried the Lunas for that. I am somewhat satisfied with my average 10:58 mm pace, partly because it was fairly consistent, varying some depending on the roughness of the asphalt; and partly just because it was a landmark distance for me. And although I am tired and the last couple miles I was having a wide swing of conversations with myself inside my head (okay, some of them were out loud when I couldn't see anyone), I don't feel like I am going to be extraordinarily sore.

So here are a couple photos of our time in the mountains. I will put together a little video later.along the Payette River near GrandJean, Idaho.jpg

Been a little busy and last week I developed my first somewhat serious tweak, some tightness and eventually swelling in the lower left shin area. No pain, just some uncomfortable tightness. Because of that, I didn't run on Friday and the running streak came to an end at 97 days. I also bought some compression sleeves on Friday and have worn them some. As of this morning, the swelling had all disappeared and there is only a slight sense of tightness in the shin area.

Ran Saturday and took a complete rest on Sunday.

I ran yesterday, late in the morning, 4.32 miles. I woke up this morning and the shin area felt good and there was no swelling. I still wore a compression sleeve and ran 7.26 miles, no discomfort and there appears to be no swelling afterwards so far. Tomorrow, if it feels good and I can't find any swelling, I will try to run without the compression sleeve and see what happens.

About two miles today.

About 1.5 of it was up and down the stairs at 1000 stair beach in Laguna.

The rest were strides.

Only got in 10 reps up and down the 236 steps.

Its steep and long each time up...just to give an idea of the steepness, its about 2360 feet of climbing in about 0.75 miles when you do ten reps of the steps.

Crazy killer workout, even the young buff SoCal fitness super freaks get exploded on those steps lol

I been putting the hurt on my leg muscle fibers for the last 4 days between going up the mountain, doing two of those stair workouts, and a good intense weight amd plyometrics session the other day.

I'll try to get in a solid mid length run tommorow if I feel okay, and then maybe rest a day or two.

Things is, I'm sore, but feel pretty good.

I am more focussed on weight loss than dramatically increasing my average minute mile pace right now, and I want to build a good solid strengh base in my running muscles and core.

I do feel like my legs are getting stronger and more stable, especially round the knees.

Those stair workouts are tough-nice! Don't get your mind too set on speed for the moment it will come when you least expect it.

Ran to the hills and did 35 mins of hill repeats and ran back to the fieldhouse for a total of 50 mins workout.

4.52 miles today, very easy pace, felt good to run some after being awake since 3 in the morning because of waking up from a nightmare.
Was it about running? your nightmare. Please share.

Part of it was when I dreamed I was running on a spinning kind of disk, with my right leg to the outside of the disk and the left in near the center. It probably stems some from the work I've been doing on improving the mobility of the left hip, whose greater immobility than the right hip is causing me to run somewhat asymmetrically.

But the real question is whether or not there is any connection between your return and me having that nightmare! :p

Hahaha, I have that effect on people you know.
I hope your hip issues resolve sooner rather than later.
