my 40 days old five fingers (spyridon mr) are already breaking apart :(. some stitchings, those fastening the rubber sole to the upper textile part, are loosening in a couple of points. i am quite disappointed, since this is my first pair of minimalistic running shoes, and they are not cheap at all.

has this happened to anybody else?

can you suggest a more reliable brand?

Did you contact Vibram? I'd think 40 days old should be covered by warranty but not sure about Vibrams warranty. I've not had any problems with my two pairs of Five Fingers, though they dont get much use anymore, in fact I dont think I've worn them since it started to warm up above freezing in spring.

Some years ago I had a similar problem (stitching coming loose) on my couple of weeks old Speed. I took a photograph and mailed it to the shop. They immediately sent a return coupon and two weeks later I had a new pair which I still use. (Should add: I wear them only in winter, so there is considerably less wear and tear than if you used them every day)

thank you all. i contacted the store (90k away). they will give me a refund if I bring /send them my pair. i'm still not sure whether to buy another pair of ff or another brand though

I have had very good experience with VFF, but could also suggest some of Merrill's "bare" options. This winter I wore Trail Glove. Note, these don't have separate toes, but I find the wide toe box provides freedom.
