Just signed up a few days ago. New to running, and new to barefoot running as well. I've been a socks only fan for years, but just for around the house. I've only been running a few months now and I'm on my second week of barefooting it. So far I love the asphalt, but I'm sticking to the gravel to do it right. My first barefoot run was 2 miles on a paved trail here in town. Felt great for the first mile, felt good for the second save for the abrasion on the front of my toes. I think Barefoot Ken Bob has solved that one for me but I haven't tried again (Still waiting for the bloodblisters to disappear). No other issues from that, but I've limited myself to a mile on a mixed dirt gravel loop at lunch a few times a week.

It doesn't appear there are many Hoosiers here, but hoping to meet some in the area.

Hi Ben and welcome. Hop over to the Chapter page and join the Indiana Chapter if you haven't already. They also have a page on Facebook :)

Just trying to focus on gravel as it's, more "encouraging", I'm basing this off of Barefoot Ken Bobs advise. Running on asphalt was great, no aches or soreness other than my toes rubbing and getting the blisters there. As far as form goes I've worked on that since I started running a few months ago and I'm happy to say the only noticible change was that I let me heels touch. But gravel is getting a lot more knee bending than the asphalt does, so I'm taking that be good.

I joined the IN Chapter. I'm generally against FB and the like, but if that's where the activity is then I may open an account for that. Thanks for the heads up.

Phil:
Thank you, glad to be here.

Well, I guess if you're conquering gravel you've got nothing to fear from asphalt. :) As long as it doesn't put you out of action for too long with blisters and such.

You don't need to join Facebook Ben. All of the action should be on the Chapter page here
.
