Mileage reporting 25th week 2014

Very sore and stiff calf muscles from all the weekend running...glad for a recovery day today...will do an easy mile or two later today to just loosen up and get the blood flowing a bit :)

Happy running this week everyone!

Edit: did about 1.5 miles at 11:30 mm pace

I did arch/calf and glute exercises today. I have decided to restart, my restart, with strength training and hiking, only, for the next week or two. This also means no 5k in August. Oh well. Better safe than injured!

6.9 miles yesterday, 5.8 of which were barefoot.

6.7 miles this morning with around 32 minutes of it at tempo pace effort. Came in sopping wet, because it was 70 degrees and almost 100% humidity.

5 miles at 4:45 am. 79 deg. f., 79 % Rh... rabbits but no lighting bugs.

30 minutes yoga, 30 minutes PT/floor exercises, 30 minutes walking backward, walking lunges forward/backward, and upper body. Tried to do pull-downs to "repetition failure" -hah! Decided to stop at 36. Spasmed my diaphragm doing that.

Tuesday - 60 minutes on spin bike in the AM, then 30 minutes of swimming in late afternoon, split into 20 + 10 minutes segments. Got a little sea sick today, but I think the water current speed was set a little faster than I am used to. Slowed it down for the last 10 minutes.

Ran 4.8 miles total.

Today was a speed workout day...really felt like crap though cause I ate a cliff bar right before I ran...gave me an insulin spike or something, I felt really peckish the whole workout...ended up doing 3 hard 400 meter intervals at about 1:45 pace...then did about 8 x 160 meter strides with about 120 meters of each at about 95 % of max speed.

The rest of the mileage was slow and easy warmup and cool down.

Good news is that over the last month, my 'slow & easy' pace has improved from around 13:30 mm to about 12:15 mm ;-)

Haven't been on here much, been doing some stuff I guess.
A little tiny bit of running, a little hiking, some weights, lots of racquetball (trying to learn), just about no swimming.
Tore something between my shoulder blades, though, who knows how, so I've been icing and trying to stay away from shoulder exercises and swimming (boo hoo).
Still not getting great sleep, so I haven't gotten my behind out of bed early enough to run before it's time to take the kids to camp. Excuses.
Guestimates for this week:

Sunday: light light hiking with kids, swimming (but mostly kicking cuz shoulders ow), a little racquetball
Monday: good long hourish hike, racquetball, some walking around
Tuesday: weights (avoiding shoulders baaaa), racquetball, that's about it
Wednesday: short walk, racquetball, some other weights (avoiding shoulders still grr, but I think it's getting better)

Want to get out early enough soon for a bf run (pavement been getting too hot by afternoon), or a sandal run later in the day (yes, sandals are here, <3 wokova feathers, even better than the first pair since they tweaked the design ever so slightly. Just slip them on and go, perfect---did a trail run in them last week, and wore them for every day since, can't wait to run more in them)

Sorry to hear things have been difficult. Hope taking it easy helps you heal quickly.

That was a lot of puddles and it was raining the whole time. Chilly, too, but I wore mostly wool and stayed reasonably comfortable. And then there was sprinkler dodging part of the time. I may have already been wet, but a full blast of water in the face is not my idea of fun, so I timed them to make it through with the least amount of impact. 7 miles barefoot, pretty rough pavement overall, so slow "form-building" run. Ha.

14km/8.7mi yesterday, my Garmin froze after about 15min , but I have the feeling my HR did not go higher than about 80% of my HRmax.

I am trying to keep it low, and then once a week I push it harder. Not concentrating on speed for now, just HR

cliff bars are so yucky.
Sometimes I forget how unsatisfying they are and try them again. Yep, still yucky.

Haha, yeah, that was my first and last try with them...I noticed in the ingredients that the have 'Natural Flavor'.

'Natural Flavor' is the name of a food additive that is 80% MSG...was surprised at that.

10k/6.1 miles today, at 12:13 mm average pace.

Base mileage day.

Today was really rough, my body is really rebelling against the daily calorie deficit and weight loss.

I only had a couple of low carb protein shakes before I ran today, bout 300 calories each, I think I used all my readily available glycogen stores by about the two mile mark and kinda bonked...was force of will to keep running for the next two miles, last two miles were cool though, I just kinda put the body on auto pilot, when I get into that 'zone' I feel like I can run indefinitely :) :) :)

A big plate of spaghetti is calling my name muahahahaha...
