Mileage reporting 23rd week 2014

Longest run barefoot ever today ! 24.5km/15.2mi, the last 10km were really hard, I had to dig deep (feet wise, body was feeling ok). I think the feet are not yet ready for this distance, but I'll build it from here...I felt my groin almost 2/3 of the run, but I managed to keep it under control for now at least

Cool! Just curious what the bottom of a Moc3 looks like without the sole. Is it just leather? Can you upload a photo?

Ya, I can, when I remember. Lol. They look exactly like the tops do, it's the same material. I like them this way MUCH better - they are perfect for HOT pavement.

Hey guys, just checking in. Only 5 barefoot miles and 8.5 sandal miles this week. I am recovering from a non running related injury (head, chest, arms, hand, doing something stupid) that has slowed me down for a while. ER doc was great, hardly a scar left at all. Also, work has gotten crazy. Not too concerned, I am calling this my Germany taper. Plan to have trail running (and beer) gluttony in two weeks.

Got up with the chickens (ok since I'm in the city I suppose its robins not chickens) this morning and was on the local trail by 5:30 am. Was a cool 53 degrees with nearly no wind. Had a great run! Decided to go for distance and ended up doing my longest run yet this year at 9 miles. Feet were fine afterword with no soreness.

ok, catch up since monday:

tues am: 2.5, sandals, blah
tues late am: barefoot trail run! fun fun fun, a little challenging at the roots/rocks branches part, but this trail was mild most of the time. Newly discovered spot.
tues lunch: some kinda short swim
tues evenign: 1 mi bf on paved trail around my new fav park to bring my kids.

wednesday: weights, I think

thursday: lunch swim, evening walk (in shoes, unknown territory, hot pavement), around park and golf course near kids swim practice pool. About 3-4 miles.

friday: 6 mi paved trails at the nature center, barefoot cuz there wasn't too much debris and the surface wasn't too hot yet, but was getting there by the time I was finishing.
lunch swim
short and lazy evening swim
strolling around downtown at night, sandals and barefoot at times.

saturday:
about 4 mi bf on more newly discovered trails, but this time got all whiny on some trails with lots of branches and such. Bruises on the bottoms of my feet from rocks and roots and whatever. Ouchie. Some sections of that trail are nicer than others. Need to find an easy loop because I'm kind of getting addicted to bf on trails, or maybe I"m just tired of waiting for my new sandals to get here.
about 1 mi on getting hot paved trail while my kids finished playing at the park.
30 min evening swim

Yesterday 5 miles or so with a section of gravel/mud road thrown in for variety. Today was showery tried to get my run in between showers and ran a 3 miler of a few hills and a fast mile at the end trying to beat the rain before the finish. It started to pour just as I go to my driveway, all in all a good weekend. I'm still amazed that ones body feels better running fast then when one runs slower. I now consider myself ready for the opening leg of the Manitoba Marathon next weekend, our company has a relay team and I get to run the opening leg which is about 6 miles, so I'm the lucky one who gets to jostle and bang elbows with 15000 people for the first couple of miles. People seem to forget how to lineup according to your projected finish times or as to what wave you are supposed to start in, seems like there is more chaos every year at the larger runs.

Ran the Wounded Warrior 1/2 marathon this morning at 7:15 am., 79 deg 70%rh., rain off and on throughout the race.
I had lots of fun.
Lots of folks asked and commented on me running barefoot.
Lots of question "doesn't that hurt your feet.

Last run of the week for me. Total miles 26
feet good
Legs good
Love running barefoot!!!
Kickin back the rest of the day!!!!

Andy, maybe if you let go of your groin that distance wouldn't have bothered you. :pompus:

just studied today outside. saw a hawk take down a blue jay. it was awesome.
