I dunno, if the greatest active basketball player can play with deformed toes, the conclusion might be that toes don't matter! So, what do we think? Is running up on our toes with short feet and glutes engaged the answer to all our prayers?

Yah, I know, sorry, I was just trying to make a quip. Still, I bet he's pretty good barefoot too.But his problem is from doing it in shoes. I am talking about doing it barefoot
I think that Chong Xie's "hyper arch mechanism" as he concieves it, is closer to hammer toes, rather than short foot.Sid - I reckon Chiong's 'secret' is up on toes, short foot, glutes engaged - like Pan
Take a look at Chong Xie's videos and decide for yourself, if they are one and the same.Is that a photo showing a good hyper arch or a bad set of hammer toes Sid?
Well, since you are curious, you may wish to review this series of posts with links to information from The Gait Guys, Dr. Allen and Dr. Waerlop. I've found them to be immensely informative. Then, revisit Chong Xie's "theories".I have Sid. I have had many discussions with Chiong about this. I'm still curious, but not enough to buy his book
As for myself, my feet are now working wonderfully, after targeting some of my problem areas with information from The Gait Guys."In short, my research discovery reveals it's how we use the feet and toes that separate the elite superstars from the average players and the average from the regular folks who are prone to sports injury. The foot is the root cause of most sports injuries today." - Chong Xie
If for whatever reason you feel the book did not help you, I will issue a FULL refund. If you have any questions at any given time, please contact me.
You should open up a clinic Sid! You seem to have really mastered this stuff.Well, since you are curious, you may wish to review this series of posts with links to information from The Gait Guys, Dr. Allen and Dr. Waerlop. No clue really. If I actually knew what I was doing, it wouldn't have taken me 4 years to transition! You should open up a clinic Sid! You seem to have really mastered this stuff.
I can't believe the Dalai Lama didn't reply to him after he offered him the secret of athleticism. Also, scroll through his twitter feed and determine for yourself, if this is someone who is likely to have developed a coherent, new and innovative approach to sports training. https://twitter.com/cx_athleticism
The Dalai Lama already possesses buns of steel. He's barefoot, too!I can't believe the Dalai Lama didn't reply to him after he offered him the secret of athleticism.
Just because one can feel muscles activating, doesn't mean that it's proper technique for running. There's a difference between explosive power required for team sports vs. the more relaxed tension of endurance sports.I still think he has something, but I don't think it helps for anything more than a very short sprint, which they do in basketball, where he is targeting his 'secret.'
I do keep trying it occasionally and it does make your legs feel stronger ... for a while. I can only maintain it for a minute or so.
Try doing short foot while you are running and see what you think.
