Evesham Ultra 2014

That reminds me the hotel they started the race at last year was finally remodeled after some floods a few years ago. I wonder if it happened to them again?

Good luck! You can do it!

Thanks for the well wishes! So the training plan is a couple of 2-3 miles runs and a 26 mile one on Sunday and that's probably it. Maybe I'll lift some weights too.

Well I attempted to run the race but ended up timing out about halfway through. I still had a blast and enjoyed the 25 miles of the muddy course. I wore my lunas which probably wasn't the best idea for muddy conditions. However because it was so muddy I ended up running/hiking about 10 miles barefoot.
Glad you had a good time and enjoyed yourself despite timing out Abide. Ya I have found sandals of any sort to not be so good in muddy conditions. That obviously did not help your speed at all. I am contemplating a sandal (homemade) that the foot will sit in better without sliding around on top of sandal in muddy conditions. The trick is to stabilize both sides of the foot and to keep the foot from sliding forward and backwards, kinda like the Pah Tempes would in theory. If I come up with a good version of a sandal I will post a picture for you so maybe you can attempt to make your own. I have a muddy race coming up end of May plus a good couple of trail races next year that should be good tests for it.

Congrats. Still a great effort in those rough conditions. 10 barefoot trail miles is more than most can do.

Forget about any sandal that will work in mud. I had some muddy conditions yesterday and the biggest problem for me is the tread just does not shed the mud. Then you have all the extra weight pulling on the straps. Sorry barefoot and sandal lovers, in mud I'll be wearing my New Balance MT110 winter boots.
