Blood blister left ring toe toward the tip and a semi blood blister right middle toe. Drain them or let them go?

I only ran 41 minutes, I must have been doing something wrong. Perhaps pushing off with my toes is the only thing I can think of.

Most people leave them alone but not me(of course) I got one BIG blood blister during a marathon and when I went home I punctured that baby around the perimeter, made about four punctures so it wouldn't fill up again, drained it, put some neosporine, a bandaid and next day it was all healed up...not kidding.

Depends on how big it is but I've found blood blisters harden up kind of nice. They work themselves off in a few weeks and function almost like a callous until then. But it's been a few years since I had a good one. (not bragging, I only used to get them when I tried to run fast, and now I just run slow so they're not a problem..)

The rule here is... Take pictures to share BEFORE you pop it!

i believe i read they are from hitting the ground too hard. last one i can remember came from running in mud and trying not to fall. had at least one but just left it alone. they come up and just leave a soft spot.

In my case I got it by friction caused by running in super wet socks.
@Kevin. how is the blister looking? it shouldn't fill up again if you pocked at least three/four holes on it.

BD - The blister looks like nothing was ever there this morning. I ended up poking 4 to 5 maybe even 6 holes in the blood blister and 4 or so in the semi-blood blister. I may have gotten over zealous poking holes. I then did what you mentioned and put Neosporin on them, Band-Aid and let them be.

TJ - I promise next time I won't violate any rules and I take photos before popping them, maybe I'll even take a video of the drainage procedure.

If I get them, it is usually from a race. I found that poking holes at the edges and draining them is the best. Then I put a band-aid or tape over it most just to keep the loose skin against the rest of the foot. By the next day, it has seemingly reattached itself back to the skin again. After about a week, it starts to peel off and there is new skin under. Leaving the blister intact usually ends up making callouses which in turn make more blisters.
