Why Ultrarunning is the Most Christian Sport

hahaha....someone is looking for a tussle I think...as if cadence isn't exciting enough for debate.....why not running and religion...:barefoot:
Not touching this one.

Fun read however.....love the quote under the first pic. about the aid station!!! :D

I'm not religious, but I really enjoyed the post. I hope to give some service at some upcoming ultras in my area. I admit my motives are somewhat selfish and I want to experience some of the ultra scene by pacing. But, I will put my own goals aside to make sure I do my job correctly while pacing.

Boy oh boy, not letting the wife see that, I would never hear the end of it then. :D

Haha, good thread! If ultrarunning is to Christianity then barefoot running must be to Paganism... all that sensualism (sorry, "prioperception"), feeling the earth and shunning sophisticated religion (motion control training shoes). Fetch me a chisel I'm off to build a henge...

Lots of distance running and race training illustrations in the Bible. I 100% agree with your response about pacing being "rewarding." I don't believe that any act can be purely selfless; there is always some kind of benefit, tangible or otherwise. It is more a matter of "can you delay gratification?" That is the hope of heaven - that earthly sufferings are temporary, and those pains endured for righteousness will be rewarded.
