Barefoot Gentile

My name is Adam Gentile, I live in Fairfield, CT. I was always a very active child growing up, spending all hours outside until dark, loved anything that had to do with movement. I was a basketball junkie in high school, played constantly and everyday, then around 20 years old I started to get into running, thanks to my sister who was really the first runner of the family.

I came to barefoot running out of pure curiosity, it was interesting how the path was paved. I was never a long distance runner at all, in fact I never ran anything over 5 miles. But in 2006 I ran my first half marathon and started to enjoy the longer distance, at the time I was wear Asic Kayano's. I never got hurt running in shoes, but out of the blue I just wanted something more minimal, now that I was starting to run longer, the Asics just were not cutting it for me. So I went from trying on racing flats, which I didn't like, then searching on web about minimal footwear which took me to barefoot running, the light went off, the rest was history. On September 15th, 2009 I took my first barefoot run and was hooked.
