I ran 26.2 miles barefoot this morning. :barefoot: Perfect weather. First 17 miles were nearly effortless. After that, it definitely got harder and slower, but I just reeled the miles in one by one. I am supremely satisfied. :D

Well done Laura!
I swam through a greasy 7 miles in Central Park at about 30C - the kind of weather I've been expecting for the last 2 months but it only just got here. I hope it goes away soon!

Yeah, that sounds challenging. I kept appreciating the weather the whole time. I know it helped me hugely!

Great job on your run Laura! Nice distance!

I ran 5 miles this morning early. Had nice fall like temperatures this morning which was refreshing. Feet held up well and left ankle did fine also.

Worked in the yard all day again today barefoot packing dirt with my heels. We are installing about 50 foot or so of concrete block retaining wall on the back side of our house which will contain river rock as a covering over the soil. Bare feet make fairly good packing tools.

Oh! I forgot to mention! I have been wearing Correct Toes at work and they have made a significant difference in keeping my hips in proper alignment. I wear them about 6-8 hours a day. :) Makes running a LOT more effective!

NICE RUN LAURA. You give me inspiration to get back to barefoot mileage this fall.

Sunday - 36 mile shod run in the mountains. This run almost didn't happen because of an achy knee last week and a bout of food poisoning the night before. Note to self, do not eat county fair food the night before a big run. Better yet, do not eat county fair food the night before any run. Even better yet, do not eat county fair food. At least I know I can get by on a sour gut if I ever decide to enter a real Ultra.

Cheese and crackers Laura, I was thinking about registering for the marathon but the way you're training you could easily kick my butt( I think it's a little bit too late for that anyways).
Nice job!

0.75km barefoot on pavement. This was a test run to figure out when I start feeling the pain slowly creeping in the post-tib area. I'll report if I feel any soreness tomorrow. If I don't, I might be tempted to run this distance instead of 3km , but run it more often (like everyday if I can) if it doesn't cause any issue and hopefully progress from there.

Ha. I'm a long way from challenging you, I'm sure! I would sure welcome a running partner for the race, though...

Thanks, Rick. I was surprised this morning to find that the ball of one foot is a bit bruised, but my legs feel absolutely great! Knowing what I do about what happens to people's feet inside of shoes, besides the fact that I just don't think I could run that far in the common "running" shoe, I'm ready to deal with whatever adapting and learning I need to do regarding such minor wounds. Your 36 miles in pretty impressive, too!

Thank you! Glad to hear you seem to be healing. I love walking in the damp dirt around my yard, which if you had asked me over 4 years ago, I would have said you were crazy. Have to laugh at myself now!

Congrats Laura! You're all set now for a great marathon. Well done!

Trying to implement the early morning daily 5k again this week, off to a bad start. My left MCL is sore for some reason, after yesterday afternoon's easy 3.5-mile run, so had to walk this morning with a slight limp. I think it's from all the sitting I did Thursday through Sunday last week driving around northern Minnesota. I dunno. I got in a nice three-mile gravel run on Saturday, and several miles of barefoot sight-seeing on Thursday.

sunday: run to campus and around and back, maybe 6ish + miles? sandals
monday: run around the neighborhood in loops, 5-6ish, last 2/3mile barefoot.
tuesday: 45 min swim. I'm allergic to some new pool chemical they are using at the Y, and spent the rest of the night sneezing, eyes watering, blowing my nose, and generally not sleeping. Bummer, because it's happened now the last 3 times I swam and I've been blissfully allergy free since my move here otherwise.
wednesday: nothing yet. quit breathing down my neck. didn't I just say I had a miserable sinusy night? hardly slept. teaching to do. i'll get to something.

I reckon you are the only one breathing down your neck. ;) Hope you figure out how to avoid whatever is happening!

Tuesday - 60 minutes on spin bike in the AM. In the evening, about an hour of rigorous weeding,
Wednesday - which probably is why my right calf is so ready to cramp after my 7.25 mile run today. Wore the Luna's, as my one foot was feeling too tender from Monday, but with the Luna's I was able to run without issue, so I'm thinking it's not a deep or long lasting problem. :)

I'm on a runstreak! 4.4km on Tuesday. 3.6km yesterday. All trails. Woohoo! :stinkyfeet:
