Mileage report 20th week 2014

I got a nice 6.75 mile run in tonight at Valley Forge... started out on trails for the first 2.25 miles, then took to the paved loop to finish up. My longest all barefoot run since I started in 2010! Only two tiny blisters, one on a toe on each foot, probably because of the spike in mileage. I had just been doing 1-2 mile conditioning runs in April, then I jumped up to 5 miles for IBRD, then another 5 miler later that week. This was my 3rd 5+ mile barefoot run in the last 9 days and I feel great. I am getting used to just going out there and not worrying about what everyone else thinks. I am doing what feels comfortable and fun for me. Still carrying my Xero's (in my FuelBelt) just in case, because of how far I am going, but I have not had to use them.

sunday:
6.5 mi midmorning, lots of stops, on the gravel trail in the new xero sandals. The rubber between the toes is impossible. Couldn't get them adjusted. Even with bandaids all over my second toes, it was too much. After about 5 mi, bf on the gravel (OUCH! I'm delicate!), and luckily, the last half mile was pavement, rough, but doable.
But I'm not complaining (much). The temps were warm and humid and summery, my legs felt good, my energy levels were fine.

evening: nice leisurely hike at the nature center, in my "fashion" sandals, which are very minimal, but falling apart ($20 roman-looking sandals from dsw with almost no sole)

monday: 2 swims, one lunch, one evening, both 45-50 min.

tuesday: pouring rain this morning, no run again :(
weights, then
another really really nice hike. humid weather. greenery everywhere. birds. hills. ponds. wild turkey sightings. easy conversation.
Over an hour, no idea on mileage.

walk during break and yoga. feeling good. found a walking buddy. walked by this mans house who freaked out when i was bf last week. showed him sandals and he was relieved. said he told everyone about me. jeez.

6.6 easy paced miles this morning. Kind of a strange shifting of mood during it. Set out with a goal of doing somewhere over 5 miles, was feeling a bit grinding around 2.5 miles and thinking maybe I'll only do around 4, but somewhere after around 3.5 miles things started feeling good so I kept going with that and ended up with a nice bit of mileage.

I have that happen occasionally. Seems some days it just takes me longer to get in the groove of things.

5K barefoot in the cool morning sunshine around my pond loop. Saw lots of cute ducklings with their mamas and papa. At the end, made myself walk .5 miles to relax. Got done just before the next wave of school field trips for the day. Will maybe do 1 mile tomorrow morning, but otherwise try to breathe deeply and not overdo it in the garden until my half marathon Saturday AM.

9.02 miles in my luna monos at a leisurely avg pace of 11:11/mile. Ran the perimeter of my town and found a trail I didn't know existed. I followed it down and about a mile later I ended up at the Willamette River. I did also find some stroller friendly trails that went of that paved one so another day I will take a more direct route so I can go exploring those. It was a hot one today and I ran out of water and kicked myself for not bringing the extra bottle that I had contemplated on bringing prior to. Feeling pretty studly today after pulling a good run out of one that started a bit sluggish and difficult. Took me nearly 3 miles to loosen up today.

2 miles today in a snow flurry with a windchill adjusted temp of -1C. And no, this was not very early morning but in the early afternoon. What the heck, did I blink and miss summer? :(

I feel so bad for you! You are making Idaho sound tropical.

wednesday: 2.5 am, socks and sandals to keep the rubbing from the xeroes with the rubber toe piece. Still not comfortable.
late am: about 2.5 more, bf, on rough-ish pavement with lots of tree and gravel debris. Not that fun. Need to find cleaner pavement. My skin is way thin from a long winter of shoe wearing and swimming and lotion. The middle of the road chip seal was the nicest, but my soles were still overloaded with too many sensations. No blisters, just "too much." Ordered more unshoes today. Might try to run on campus tomorrow. Yes, I'm princess needsaperfectsurface.

short swims at lunch and in the evening.

rode my bike to school today. of course the route with more cars on it is the faster route. walked on my break again with my friend. i see more and more people not only in class bf but walking outside bf. score.

took a 2 hour recovery nap too.

sced, do your sandals fit you properly? is the hole in the right place? i've had the hole to far under my toes and it made the lace rub horribly.

7.1 easy miles today, again took a couple of miles to warm up and feel good, then just flowed with that. Too bad the flow doesn't do anything about sweating when the temp is above 60 and it's humid for me.

40 minutes on the treadmill in my luna monos. Man that sucked. At 5 minutes in I seriously was wondering if I would make it 10 minutes. If you averaged out my heartrate for the run it would be at about a maf pace, so you know it was super slow, but running on the treadmill just feels so much harder. I don't get it. Partially I think the pace and distance counters are off. The fastest I ran today was at a 12 min pace, but my slow easy and long day on the road yesterday was at an 11:11 avg pace. I think it probably needs to be recalibrated or something. Oh well, I always set it to work off my heartrate so I don't over do things.

I know we are all different in some sense but that would have been a torture fest for me...

Oh it is for me too. Just some days I can't get outside to run so it's either treadmill in the garage or no run at all. I'm rather cranky if I don't run plus I am really focused on losing weight right now.

Oh and on a seperate note, I just realized I may be pushing close to 30 miles for the week depending on tomorrows run. That's also not counting any of the running chasing my son on his bike. I should start wearing my Garmin while doing that so I have some idea of distance I run in addition to my normal runs.... :) Normally just getting up to 17-18 miles in a week and I start hurting pretty bad.

I understand the crankyness...15 to 25 miles a week running is my sweet spot for feeling good...a bit more here and there is good when the weather is right and I have the time.
