that I've ever experienced has been provided by healthy well-functioning bare feet!

While walking my dog a few months ago, I was struck by how comfortable and well-cushioned my right foot felt. Yet, I was completely barefoot! (I was still working on trying to rehab the bunion on my left foot at that time). Although, I was on a concrete sidewalk, it felt like I was walking on a firm, pillowy surface. It was just amazing! I looked down and confirmed, sure enough, concrete. I thought it was just a fluke, but I got the same sensation the next day.
(Now, mind you, I could feel that it was concrete, but it felt remarkably comfortable).

Now, I've been working on making my left side feel just as good (after addressing some problem areas), and I'm making solid progress. Today's jog felt good!

I just felt excited to share that, after years of rehabbing my feet with all of the great information at BRS and The Gait Guys. Thanks everyone!

Edit: I'd also like to add, that this would not have been possible in my case, if I had continued to wear minshoes. Concrete and asphalt have been exceedingly unforgiving of imperfect form, technique, and any foot problems. I had to fix everything in order to reach this level of comfort.

Sid, come on up north and run on the roads with some of our leftover snow grit. You'll be even more thankful for the good form you've been perfecting.
Hahaha! Oh no, you're not going to fool me! I lived in Pittsburgh for several years. I saw what kind of snow you got this year.

Despite my gimpy left foot, variable surfaces have been much easier to run on, versus smashing the same areas on my foot over and over on concrete/asphalt. In fact, this 400m section of gravel has been much more manageable than the sidewalk.

How about you come south next winter, instead? :p

Ha! I've been so comfortable without shoes, that I completely forgot to wear my flip-flops to the gym (dress code). (I go for a quick dip in the pool and spa, after a run, before work.) Fortunately, I had my VivoBF Dharmas with me.
