Yay! Product war at my local supermarket

Having been on the Whole30 program to jumpstart the Primal Blueprint way of living, I sort of threw my lot in with coconuts. Coconut oils, concentrated cream of coconut, and coconut water became erstwhile friends. But where to get a supply of the water? As far as I knew, my supermarkets weren't exactly falling over themselves to meet my needs. Today I went shopping and lo and behold! Zico coconut water right at the front entrance where they feature fresh fruit. New product. Right behind it is the Naked juice display which had their product. Seems I got lucky. I am not a fan of Naked juice's coconut water, but Zico is a big hit with me. I have yet to try O.N.E brand, or see it for sale locally, but I plan to try it as soon as I discover it. Until then, I am happy to have more great products to help me stay primal.

What percent is water, and what percent is coconut oil? As far as I know, the water harvested from young green coconuts has no oil present. By the time a coconut matures the water has been used up.

Does it taste yummy? I feel the taste is not the greatest in the world, but that's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong; I do find it kinda nice... maybe if it tasted like steak? :p Kind of reminds me of chamomile tea. I have recently started using my blender and adding pineapple chunks to add a bit of yumminess. Not quite a smothie, but close I guess. There are differences in taste between brands. Seems to be consistency within each brand, but quite a diffference in taste between competitors if the commenters on websites are correct. I do find a difference between Naked juice brand and Zico and I prefer Zico more FWIW. Not sure why there should be a difference... the coconuts are the same.

What's it for/good for, as in what does it fix? I remember reading how the water is almost a perfect replacement for blood plasma and was used exactly for that during the war in the pacific. They just took it right out of the coconuts and put it straight in intravenously! Has a high amount of potassium as well. I have read quite a few people respond in comments that after a hard workout, they had a glass of the stuff and were ready to get back out and do some more when they thought they were spent.

Is it expensive? Not cheap, but if bought in bulk it can be more reasonable. Problem there is that most people who drink the stuff already know about that and supplies go bye bye quite frequently. I know every store in my area is trying to push it by product placement, so it has definitely arrived as they say. Funny how I find these things just as they become more well known. In my area, a large container, about a quart, runs between 4 and 5 dollars.

How often should someone drink it? I drink it infrequently. I find the feeling is quite similar to an energy drink, just an organic and healthy one. It really does pick you up; and often in several minutes. I guess I use it medicinally, lol. If I was in a more tropical clime, where the trees are grown, it might be a different story.

Does it have lots of calories? I think it does have some natural sugars, but if the purveyors add fruit flavorings, the calories do go up; but nothing extreme, since most companies realize they are trying to appeal to a health focused consumer group.
